MedStar NRH-MedStar Harbor Hospital Sports Medicine has a wealth of experience, with each team member bringing expertise that is used to develop new programs to benefit our communities, including MedStar's first Running Injury Clinic with the first AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill in Maryland, video motion analysis for baseball pitchers, the Golf Enhancement Program, and the MedStar ACL Injury Prevention Program.

Josh Billings, MPT, Clinic Director

  • B.S. in Biology in 1995 from Susquehanna University

  • MPT from the University of Delaware in 1997

  • Reputation for excellence in working with athletes and orthopaedic patients

  • Areas of clinical expertise include working with runners and baseball players

  • Patient education is at the core of all of his programs, allowing Josh's patients to maintain and improve upon the outcomes achieved in the clinic

Emily Coates, PT, DPT, Clinic Coordinator

  • B.S in Biology from SUNY Geneseo

  • Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Clarkson University

  • Diverse experience with a special focus in treatment of pediatric and adolescent orthopedic and sports injuries, including management of concussions and addressing poor coordination in early sports participation

  • An active participant in the pediatric sports medicine and running specialty groups of MedStar Sports Medicine

  • Rehabilitation Specialties Include: Back/Neck/Spine Pain, Concussions, Orthopaedic Conditions, Pediatric Vestibular/Balance Rehabilitation

Justin Cooper, MPT

  • B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park

  • Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

  • Before his Physical Therapy training, Justin enjoyed teaching biology and coaching high school soccer and golf

  • Earned the Advanced Back to Golf certification and currently runs the Golf Performance Program at several NRH locations
Chadd-BaldwinChadd Baldwin, PT, DPT

  • B.S. in Exercise Science from Shippensburg University

  • B.S. in Health Science from Lebanon Valley College

  • While at Lebanon Valley College, Chadd received his Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy Rehabilitation

  • Specialties Include: ACL Return to Play, Back/Neck/Spine Pain, Orthopaedic Conditions

Carissa K. Colangelo, PTA, ATC, CSCS

  • Graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with an associate's degree as a physical therapists assistant and a bachelor's degree in athletic training

  • Completed graduate work at Ohio University, graduating in 2003 with a master's degree in athletic training and higher education

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

  • Spent six years at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA as an assistant athletic trainer

  • A strong background in the rehabilitation of athletes

  • Samantha received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from Bloomsburg University

  • She then went on to receive her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
